Ssshhh! Don’t Jinx It!
I’ve been afraid to post. I’ve been doing really well so far in June, and I fear that any mention of this may jinx me and it will all go kabooom! around me and I’ll end up on another 300 BB downswing. Anyway, the damage caused by these past three (!) months of suckiness is now repaired. I’m back - even slightly ahead - of where I was before all this madness started. My goal of taking shots at $20/$40 before the end of the year is still attainable. In fact, it’s more than attainable; I’ve been doing much better than expected.
The summer has arrived fully now, and we’re having 75-80 degrees outside. I went to the golf course on Friday with a coworker (who used to work as an assistant golf instructor) to have him look at my swing. I’ve hardly played golf the past four years so there was presumably a lot to work with. He was very helpful:
“Well, okay. Now that I’ve seen you hit a few shots, there’s really only three things I want to change.
1. Your grip.
2. Your stance.
3. Your swing.”
Well, gee, thanks!
So these “mere” three things that he changed is going to force me to stay on the driving range for two weeks just to get sorted out. But I’m noticing results immediately which is good for my morale.
In other non-poker-related news, my parents came to visit for the weekend. They arrived yesterday at lunchtime, and stayed until lunch today. This was their first time visiting since we moved to the new house and it was fun to have them over. I probably won’t see them again until the wedding, which is on August 4th. My wedding, that is, for those of you who aren’t keeping minute track of my personal life.
So to recap: I’ve been putting off blogging for a few days because of how well I’ve been doing at the tables (don’t want to stop playing to blog), my renewed interest in golf thanks to the weather, and my mom&dad visiting. I hope you’ll forgive me.
I should probably leave the computer room now, before Lori notices I’m up here. The weather’s beautiful and all, and she thinks (and is probably right) that I ought to take advantage of that and not sit indoors. But the thing is, I can’t stand the sun. Tanning to me is a little bit like watching paint dry, except that I’m not just bored; I’m also sweaty and uncomfortable. No thanks.
Once we get a bit further into the evening, I’ll head over the driving range for an hour, but right now I’ll stay comfortably indoors.
