May’s been very good to me, for several reasons. For one, I’ve been working a lot by my standards (~40 hour weeks), and for the first time in months I don’t feel like a complete slob. I was playing hockey and doing a little bit of running in the winter, but to be honest I was an absolute sloth. No job, hadn’t seen the light of day before noon in ages, and I would play poker and/or video games for 5 hours minimum. That summed up my daily routine, pretty much. Now, I wake up and work all day until I’m to the point of exhaustion, get home and eat my 5th meal of the day, then play a couple hours of poker, and of course I sleep like a baby.

I feel that my actual poker game has progressed to a new level, as well. I’ve recently been reading Zen and the Art of Poker by Larry W. Phillips, and it’s really given me a new perspective on poker in general. My tilting is way down, and my discipline and confidence are at a very comfortable level. It’s helped me tremendously, and I’m not even two-thirds the way through. I can now (mostly) accept variance for what it is, and don’t find myself slamming my desk in disgust at a beat or after getting bubbled. That may be because I haven’t been bubbled or beat in a while as I’m running very good right now, but anyways the book did a lot of good for my game. I would seriously suggest it to anyone who wants to progress their game or who has any type of problem with discipline.

My computer build is going slower than I’d hoped, but it’ll come. I had two weeks of pay packed into one big juicy cheque that I picked up on friday, as well as a nice ~$290 cheque from pokerstars that helped fill my pockets. I owe about $300 for some past dues, so that poker cheque will cover that, then two new computer components will be right here in my new PC case soon enough. I should have this build done easily by the end of next month, but probably within a couple weeks if I budget myself properly. I’ll post some pics or something when it all gets finished up

Well, it’s a lazy sunday afternoon, and I’m going to go and sit no my porch with a beer (again)
