Reminder: Cap When You Have The Nuts
Hopefully none of you ever make this mistake, but I used to sometimes just call when it seemed to me that it was so obvious that the pot would be split that there was no point in raising. Today I was reminded why capping is good:
PokerStars 2/4 Hold’em (5 handed) (Format: HTML)
Preflop: Hero is BB with 6♠, Q♥.
1 fold, MP calls, 2 folds, Hero checks.
Flop: (2.50 SB) J♦, 6♦, A♠ (2 players)
Hero checks, MP checks.
Turn: (1.25 BB) T♥ (2 players)
Hero checks, MP checks.
River: (1.25 BB) K♠ (2 players)
Hero bets, MP raises, Hero 3-bets, MP caps, Hero calls.
Final Pot: 9.25 BB
Hero has 6s Qh (straight, ace high).
MP has Kh Js (two pair, kings and jacks).
Outcome: Hero wins 9.25 BB.
