Spring’s getting busy

ChuckTs @ 11:11 pm

After a solid March, April’s been fairly slow in terms of poker progress.

I’ve only played 2 games so far; both were $15 STTs. I won one, and lost the other for a very tidy, fully sustainable %100+ ROI :p My reason for losing the second was simple; I’d been trying to multitable the two games, and failed to realize there was a very obvious 4-straight on board, and somehow got all my money in with a vulnerable overpair which of course got called by the winning hand. Something I definitely need to work on.

Outside the poker world, things have been pretty busy for me. My best friend, who was on a year-long trip in Malaysia, Thailand and other surrounding countries, came back on sunday. We’ve gone out a couple times to catch up and have a few drinks. His mother, who coincidentally is also my boss when I do landscaping for her in the warm season, was also overseas with him, and since she’s returned that means that I’ll be working as soon as things warm up around here. Working is going to give me less time to play poker, but I think that although this might be the case, I might actually end up playing more. I literally have all day to play as much as I want right now, and I think that freedom has drawn me away from playing as much for some reason. I’ve averaged probably 1 hour of play a day in march. The fact that I’ll only have ~3 hours to play after I finish work will make me want to play so much more, hopefully I get some good results going.

Things in my house have also been fairly busy; my grandmother is moving in soon, and I’ve moved bedrooms from the basement to an upstairs bedroom to make space for her (weee more windows! No more gollum skin!). This is all kind of pointless as me and my dad are planning on moving in within the next few months anyways, and I won’t be here long. We’re both interested in the same kind of place - a ‘fixer-upper’ warehouse or studio place fairly close to my area. We’ve already looked at one place, but it was a basement (no-no for me…been down in the cellar too long :p) and was pretty shoddy. We’re gonna take a look at some more places soon; we’ve made a deal with each other that we’d move in by september, but it looks like by the end of the spring we could have a place already. A poker table, dart board, big huge windows, nice living room/computer area and lots of liquor are all in the works :)

May will bring even more hustle into my life - I’ll be starting my electrical course in college on the 7th.

I’ll be busy to say the least this spring; looking forward to coming home smelling like horse manure every day.

But, alas, such is life for a struggling gambler :)
