Crackdown, winning and whining.

Not much goin on today; I picked up the new xbox game ‘crackdown’, and it is pretty much the most fun I’ve ever had in a game. It’s kind of like a mix between grand theft auto, and spiderman. You’re a genetically modified ‘agent’ and basically your job is to rid Pacific City of three gangs. The real fun comes in when you realize how strong you are, and you start jumping across buildings and tossing just about anything over 300 feet at the bad guys. The jumping literally gives me that roller coaster feeling in my stomach sometimes - I do have a fear of heights, but it’s soooo fun.

Anyways, it may not be the best-made game ever, with the story line being pretty dismal, but it gets back to the roots of video games and goes back to what games are all about - having fun. There’s nothing like jumping across skyscrapers in the business district while blowing the sh*t out of a group of baddies who just happen to be situated right beside a stack of randomly situated explosive barrels :D

I managed to pry myself away from the game long enough to play three SnGs; two $5s and one $10 on stars. In the first, I bubbled with my A7s vs KT hitting top pair vs. made straight, and I was busto. I made up for that over-aggressive loss with two wins in a $5 and a $10, so I’m pretty happy. One thing that really got to me, though, was a player going busto with AK vs a fishy’s A6 all in preflop (at 10/20 with full stacks too!!). His post-bust BS in the chat box was just unneeded - he started cutting up the player and swearing etc etc.

“He’s lost 2K here only at the $10s. PS has got to give him a win to keep the fishies here”
ChuckTs said, “why you trying to scare them off then”
ChuckTs said, “take a loss”
“bud out chuck”

I mean what’s the purpose of doing this? Make the fish feel like crap and make him rethink playing poker? These are the guys that fill the sharks’ bankrolls! Not only for the fact that you’re letting him know just how poorly he’s playing, but it’s just plain disrespectful. There’s no place for that crap in this great game, so leave it out. Take a loss, go take a walk and get rid of all that tilt. If you can’t do even that, then go find a new hobby.

I’ll admit I do sometimes have to hold back from some tilting comments when I take a beat, but know better than to start ragging on a player for poor play. Let these types of players (A6o all in preflop types) know they aren’t playing so bad; tell them ‘gg’ when they bust, and keep the game fun for them. That’s why they’re here - to have fun. Not to make money. So let’s keep it that way!

Anyways, I’m rambling (again). I had a hockey game tonight in which only 5 players showed up so we had not even one sub, and I’m exhausted, so it’s time for bed and then some more poker and crackdown tomorrow :/
